Ian James is the founder and managing director of SourceOut Ltd. After a successful career in IT
development, management and marketing with major corporates, he set up an independent consultancy business and spent more than 30 years in management consultancy and interim management.
As a partner and marketing director of a consulting and resourcing business, Ian took it from a turnover of £500K to a highly-profitable, £7M group. Over a period of 20 years, he operated as a Principal
Consultant to the Office of Government Commerce, where he provided commercial, procurement, project and programme management support to UK civil government department, the MOD, numerous Agencies and various other public
He then took on interim senior management roles, managing large government programmes and outsourcing contracts with major global suppliers
and integrators, firstly as Commercial Manager with the Immigration Directorate, subsequently as Deputy
Controller of Programmes at the Identity & Passports Service, then as Deputy Commercial Director at the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Latterly, Ian has additionally widened his experience by in-depth involvement in the SME community - setting up, marketing and managing business networking organisations.
Ian now brings this
unique combination of management, marketing, technical and commercial experience and
expertise to the provision of business networking; and project, programme and commercial management services for all, but particularly small and medium-sized, organisations.
